One man died in a shooting Thursday in Cheyenne, and two more males were wounded, police say.

Two male shooters were “involved” in the shooting, which police responded to at about 2 p.m. near the 3300 block of Dunn Avenue, the Cheyenne Police Department reports.

Both “involved” males were wounded and were taken to the hospital.

The third person, a man, died, CPD Public Information Officer Alexandra Farkas told Cowboy State Daily in a Thursday email.

Calling it "tragic," Cheyenne businessman Harvey Deselms said the shooting happened one block away from his home.

"Lots of lives changed today," he said on his Facebook page. "Prayers to those directly involved and for our amazing neighborhood."

"I'm sure no one thinks of such a thing happening in their neighborhood, much less your back yard," he said.

Detectives were on scene investigating in the afternoon and had contacted several people of interest.

They said they did not believe there was a threat to the public following the incident.

As of 5:30 p.m., road closures in the area that had lasted for hours were officially lifted, the department said.
