• A bill that started the day as a straight 50% property tax cut was dramatically changed on Thursday. The 50% cut is now based on a property’s COVID-era assessed value from 2019-2024.
• Gold commodities have been skyrocketing, a trend that’s only continued since the election of President Donald Trump. Now the Wyoming Legislature is looking to get in on the action, proposing to buy $10 million worth of gold.
• The Senate Appropriations Committee advanced a bill on Thursday that creates universal school vouchers for private education in Wyoming. The committee passed an amendment to the bill changing the funding source from federal mineral royalties to the general fund.
• The House Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee advanced a bill on Thursday that more clearly specifies on the state’s IDs when a person is a non-U.S. citizen.
• The Wyoming Wildlife Federation held its annual Camo at the Capitol event on Thursday, with many camouflage-clad sportsmen and women filling the seats in the legislative chambers.
