The FBI is asking the public for information about an early morning hit-and-run that killed someone Monday on the Wind River Indian Reservation.

An adult male was walking south on Crow Avenue just north of Little Shield Road, says a press release from the agency. A vehicle hit and killed him, but the driver didn’t stay on scene or report the crash.

Someone called in to report finding a body at 2:30 a.m., says the statement.

The FBI, Wyoming Highway Patrol and Bureau of Indian Affairs are investigating the crash.

The suspect vehicle had blue or blue metallic paint and is expected to have front-end and underbody damage.

Anyone with information can call the FBI at 1-303-629-7171 or visit tips.fbi.gov.

Pedestrian fatalities occur regularly on the reservation.

The FBI also asked the public for help solving a hit-and-run that killed a person – that time a woman – in August 2023. The driver fled the scene then too after hitting the woman just south of the Wind River Hotel and Casino.

The FBI did not immediately have information Monday on whether that case was ever resolved.
