A driver struck and killed a woman walking on the highway just south of the Wind River Hotel and Casino on Saturday morning.

Then the driver fled.

Because the casino is on the federal jurisdiction of the Wind River Indian Reservation, the FBI is investigating the fatal crash. The agency dispatched a terse press release Saturday asking the public to reach out with any information about the fatality.

The impact happened between 4:30 and 5 a.m. Saturday morning on Highway 789, says the statement, which does not list the woman's age, town of origin and whether she died on scene or afterward.

The FBI did not immediately return a Cowboy State Daily follow-up inquiry.

Anyone with information can contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit tips.fbi.gov.
