Anna Cobb will always remember the kindness that her nephew Liam Cobb, 19, possessed, and his curiosity about how all things worked in the world.
“He was just a good member of society,” she said.
Liam Cobb died Wednesday while working on a wind turbine near Medicine Bow in Carbon County. Anna Cobb said her nephew fell while working his job as a wind turbine technician.
“It’s just kind of devastating when you see a young person pass away,” she told Cowboy State Daily.
Curious And Kind
Anna Cobb said Liam possessed a strong desire to learn how things worked. It’s what led him to his job, which she said he’d had for about a year after graduating from Douglas High School in 2024.
“Liam was so smart, always questioning why do things work the way they do,” she said. “He was always curious.”
Anna Cobb said Liam brought a constant light to his family, a smile almost always etched across his face. He leaves behind five siblings and his mother and father.
He was particularly close with his cousin, Anna’s daughter Beth Cobb, who was one grade below him in school. The two played on the same youth hockey team for a few years and won a Bantam A state championship together in 2020.
She said her daughter is taking her cousin’s death particularly hard.
The Douglas Youth Hockey Association expressed its condolences for Liam Cobb in a Thursday post on Facebook.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the Cobb family on the heartbreaking loss of their son, Liam,” the post reads. “Our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.”
Many people offered their condolences on the post, with one person saying they were placing hockey sticks outside their door in Liam’s honor.
Aundy Luckenbihl, former president of the Douglas Youth Hockey Association, said her organization is very tightknit. Liam’s father thanked the group for the messages he’s received about his son.
“Liam is in the arms of Jesus today. Thanks for your prayers and support,” he posted.

Many Interests
Luckenbihl remembers Cobb as a soft-spoken, talented goalie of many years.
“He was kind, a good kid,” she said.
Anna Cobb said Liam also participated in 4-H growing up, where he showed chickens and goats. In particular, Liam loved his goats, which they raised on his family’s hobby farm.
“He loved his goats,” Anna Cobb said.
He also was interested in cross-country bicycle riding and had an interest in doing some long trips someday, she said.
The family also loved giving Liam, a fitness fanatic, a hard time about his tuna smoothies, which he loved because of their high protein.
When he died, Anna Cobb said Liam’s organs were able to be saved and donated.
Medicine Bow resident Michael Charles has set up a GoFundMe for Cobb’s funeral expenses, describing the young man as “a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him — full of kindness, humor, and a passion for life that touched so many.”
Anna Cobb said Liam’s funeral will be at 9 a.m. April 17 at the Wyoming State Fairgrounds in Douglas.
