Dear editor:
I am a fifth-generation Wyoming citizen, a parent of two Wyoming daughters, and a Republican. This is a critical time in our Wyoming’s history.
We just preserve our values of individual freedom and equality.
I do not support Cheyenne resident Gary Brown for House District 41.
He does not believe women should be able to decide if, when, how and with whom they start or grow their family.
He does not believe that Wyoming women should control their own bodies and make their own personal medical decisions.
Gary Brown spoke in favor of banning abortion as a private citizen at the WY Senate Agriculture Committee Meeting on February 23, 2023.
He testified that he divorced his second wife when he learned she had become pregnant and decided to obtain an abortion without his permission.
He did not believe his former wife had the right to manage her own body and reproductive health. His public testimony can be found on YouTube .
Pregnancy is private. Freedom is for everybody. Reproductive freedom is for everybody. It’s a fundamental American value.
Without the freedom to control our lives, bodies, and futures, meaningful equality will remain out of reach.
Poll after poll has shown that 8 in 10 Americans support access to abortion and believe that any decision about pregnancy should be made by that person with those they love and trust---not be politicians.
The science around pregnancy is complex, and all pregnancies are different.
That’s why the best health care takes place privately between doctors and patients.
Please vote for Jen Solis for House District 41 to protect the constitutional rights of our Wyoming daughters, granddaughters, wives, partners, and any person that elects to terminate their pregnancy.
