After two Casper men fought physically Friday evening, the younger man shot the other, then shot himself, authorities say.

Both men died.

Stephen Skaj, 58, and Ryan Rosty, 33, had a physical altercation in the 4700 block of Boles Road, Casper, at around 5 p.m. Friday, according to a Monday morning press release from the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office.

After the fight, Skaj started walking away from Rosty, the sheriff’s statement recounts from a witness interview.

“Rosty shot Skaj before shooting himself,” says the statement, adding that an eyewitness watched the shootings, and the physical evidence on the scene matched up with the witness’ description of the incident.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends impacted by this tragedy,” the statement continues, adding that the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit is providing support and assistance to Skaj’s family.

The department is asking for more information from the public. The investigations division phone line is 307-235-9282 and the anonymous Crime Stoppers of Central Wyoming line is 307-577-8477.
