The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a suspect in the murder of a 30-year-old Teton County man, but wants to find an SUV related to the investigation.

The vehicle is “possibly related” to the investigation of the death of Colter Wesley Watsabaugh, 30, who had been living recently in Rock Springs though he was from Teton County.

Passersby found his body Sunday near a dirt side-road in Reliance, Wyoming, north of Rock Springs, according to a Tuesday statement by the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department.

The statement does not say when Watsabaugh died or what killed him.

The sheriff’s office is asking the public to help locate a black 2004 Honda Pilot that may still have its Wyoming license plates, or may not. The Wyoming license plate number is 4-44200.

Sheriff’s detectives and the Rock Springs Coroner’s office determined together that Watsabaugh died of a homicide in Reliance, Wyoming, north of Rock Springs, the statement says.

Deputies have taken a suspect into custody but are withholding that person’s identity over concern for “the integrity of an active and ongoing investigation and pending formal charges,” the statement says.
