The Casper Police Department is asking for help solve a homicide.

Police found Daniel R. Swope, 48, in the 700 block of East 3rd Street in Casper on Tuesday, dead in what appears to be suspicious circumstances, according to a Friday press release from the department.

Police launched an in-depth investigation, and the Natrona County Coroner has ruled Swope's death a homicide, the statement says.

"The scene remains secure as our investigation continues, and we ask the public to please remain out of the immediate area,” the CPD says.

Other agencies are assisting, including the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

"Currently, the incident is isolated, and we do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public," says the statement. "We will continue to provide updates as the investigation develops."

The department is asking anyone with information about the homicide to contact the department's tip line, 307-920-2862, or pdtips@casperwy.gov.

People providing information who want to remain anonymous can give tips through Crime Stoppers.
