Don Day Wyoming Weather Forecast: Sunday, January 29, 2023

Snow in most portions of Wyoming today. The only area that will get a break is in the northern part of the state. Very, very cold all over the state with sub-zero temperatures throughout.

It’s Sunday, January 29th – and the snow will be gradually moving out of the north after sunrise today. But that means that the southern part of the state will get the worst of it, with 35 mph gusts from South Pass to Green River. Highs around the state are expected to be in the single digits to lower teens in some areas, but in the negative teens for much of the forecast area; the Wind River and Upper Green River Basin are expected to be the coldest, with readings 20 below to 30 below zero.

Central Wyoming:

There’s a 50 percent chance of snow showers in Riverton today; mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near -1, and wind chill values as low as -20. 1-3 inches of snow is possible in the Casper area, with highs near 5 and wind chill values as low as -15. Near Jeffrey City, 1-2 inches of snow could fall; cloudy and cold today, with temperatures around -2 and wind chill values as low as -20. Douglas will hit 1 degree for its high.

Mostly cloudy skies in Riverton tonight, with a low around 23. There’s a 40 percent chance of snow showers overnight in Casper, with lows around -9 and wind chill values as low as -25. Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of snow showers near Jeffrey City, with lows around -17. Douglas‘ low will be -14.

Southwest Wyoming:

Snow likely in Evanston today, with 2-4 inches possible; temperatures falling to around 11, with wind chill values as low as -3. Green River can expect about an inch of snow, with temperatures falling to around 4 and wind chill values as low as -20; winds could gust as high as 33 mph. In Cokeville, 1-3 inches of new snow could fall, with highs near 14 and wind chill values as low as -5.

Overnight, Evanston has a 20 percent chance of snow, with lows around -12 and wind chill values as low as -27. Green River could see less than a half inch of new snow, with lows around -12 and wind chill values as low as -25; winds could gust as high as 32 mph. There’s a 20 percent chance of snow in Cokeville overnight, with lows around -26.

Western Wyoming:

1-2 inches of snow is expected to fall in Afton today, with highs near 17. There’s a 40 percent of snow showers in Alpine, with partly sunny skies and a high near 15, but windchill values as low as -5. Around an inch of snow is possible in Pinedale today, with highs near 10 and wind chill values as low as -15.

There’s a 20 percent chance of snow in Afton tonight, with lows around -7. Overnight, Alpine can expect partly cloudy skies with a low around -10, but wind chill values as low as -20. Pinedale can expect mostly cloudy skies and a 20 percent chance of snow showers overnight, with lows around -23 and wind chill values as low as -35.

Rock Springs will see a high of 7 degrees and a low of -14. Expect between 1 – 3 new inches of snow.

Bighorn Basin:

Partly sunny and cold in Powell today, with a high near 10 and wind chill values as low as -20; winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Basin and Worland can both expect new snow accumulation of less than a half inch today, with highs near 10, but wind chill values as low as -10.  

Clear skies tonight in Powell, with lows around -16, and wind chill values as low as -25. Basin can expect mostly clear skies, with lows around -20, and wind chill values as low as -30. Partly cloudy skies in Worland overnight, with lows around -24 and wind chill values as low as -35.

Northwest Wyoming:

Jackson is under a Winter Storm Warning until 11am on Sunday. An additional two inches of snow is likely. The high on Sunday will be 13 while the overnight low will be -17.

Yellowstone National Park is under the same Winter Storm Warning and is expected to receive an additional two to four inches of snow. The high on Sunday will be -2 and the overnight low will be -22.

Dubois has a Winter Storm Warning in effect until 5pm on Sunday. Expect an additional snow accumulation of between two – four inches. The high temperature will be -2 and the overnight low will be -16.

Northeast Wyoming:

Mostly cloudy and cold in Buffalo today, with highs near 3, and wind chill values as low as -15. There’s a 30 percent chance of snow in Ranchester, with highs near 1 and wind chill values as low as -20. Moorcroft has a 20 percent chance of snow today, with highs near 2 and wind chill values as low as -19.

Sheridan will reach 3 degrees for the high today with snow flurries. Gillette‘s high temperature is expected to be zero.

Overnight, Buffalo will see mostly cloudy skies, with a low of -12 and wind chill values as low as -25. Partly cloudy in Ranchester tonight, with lows around -18 and wind chill values as low as -30. Moorcroft can expect mostly cloudy skies, with lows around -20 and wind chill values as low as -31. Sheridan will dip down to -16. Gillette will be one degree cooler at -17.

Eastern Plains:

Snow showers are likely in Midwest today, with around an inch possible; highs should be near 2 and wind chill values as low as -15. 2-4 inches of snow is possible in Guernsey and in Wheatland, with temperatures around 3 and wind chill values between -10 and -15.  Lusk will reach 1 degree today with between 1 – 3 inches of snow.

There’s a 10 percent chance of snow overnight in Midwest, with partly cloudy skies and lows around -14; wind chill values as low as -25. Cloudy skies in Guernsey, with lows around -11, but wind chill values between -15 and -25. Wheatland could see 1-3 inches of snow overnight, with lows around -7, and wind chill values between -10 and -15. Lusk‘s overnight low is expected to be -16.

Southeast Wyoming:

Rawlins and Chugwater can expect 2-4 inches of snow today, with highs near 4 and wind chill values between -15 and -25. 1-2 inches of snow is possible in Cheyenne, with highs near 6 and wind chill values between -10 and -20. Laramie will have between 1 – 3 inches of new snow with a high of 7 degrees.

An additional 1-3 inches of snow could fall both in Chugwater and in Rawlins tonight, with lows around -8 and wind chill values between -15 and -25. In Cheyenne, 1-2 inches of new snow is possible, with lows around -10 and wind chill values between -15 and -25. Laramie will dip down to -6 for the overnight low.
