Denying the accomplishments of Donald Trump as president is increasingly difficult, but our determined Democrat friends are up to the task.
To hear them tell it, our country is on the ropes, in total disarray, on the verge of collapse.
And there are those among us who believe them, and will vote to put Democrats back in charge in the House and Senate in the November election.
If you like the prospect of open borders, and millions of undocumented people streaming into our country once again, you'll probably be voting for Democrats, in hopes that illegal newcomers will bring Democrats more seats in Congress, and vote Democrat themselves. (Hey, voting would be illegal, but they're already violating the law just being here.)
If you want to reinstate USAID and get back to squandering billions around the world, at a time when we're $40 trillion in debt here, then you'll be voting for Democrats.
And if you oppose “no tax on tips” or on Social Security, and want to raise taxes to pay for layer upon layer of moon-beam programs to provide free stuff to everyone, the Democrats are your logical party.
Most crazy, if you like the idea of doing away with the U.S. Senate, dramatically changing the Supreme Court, and making the presidency sort of a city manger position, appointed by the House instead of elected by the people, there are those in today's Democratic Party who agree with you.
Just for fun, let's look at a few of the greatest hits of the Trump presidency, and ponder how any thinking Democrat could disagree.
Remember back in 2016, when Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman predicted that the stock market would crash if Trump was elected? The Dow Jones Industrial Average stood at 18,333 on November 8, 2016. And as I write this column, the Dow is at 51,755, a 182 percent increase.
Krugman was 182 percent wrong.
The stock market was so strong that even the four years of Joe Biden couldn't screw it up.
How about the fact that in mere days after Trump took office in 2025, the border with Mexico was closed to the thousands, ultimately millions, of illegal immigrants who streamed in during the Biden administration.
Democrats might have missed that, because the liberal media sources they listen to largely ignored the invasion along our southern border. Fox News covered it, though.
Remember that dramatic photograph of thousands of illegal immigrants gathered under a highway overpass in Texas? It was at night, and the scene looked like something out of “Apocalypse Now.” That was clueless Alejandro Mayorkas's idea of a secure border.
Our Democrat friends seem to view atrocities like the murder of nursing student Laken Riley as an acceptable downside to their open borders dream. But Trump signed the Laken Riley act, requiring detention of criminal illegal aliens, instead of Biden's “catch and release” disaster.
Crime is down dramatically now, for a number of reasons. Troops in Washington made the streets there far safer. There are fewer people coming here illegally. A spotlight was shined on disastrous Democrat policies like “no cash bail” in hotbeds of crime like Chicago. And we're paying a lot more attention these days to laws and judges that put career criminals back on the street to re-offend.
Just about everyone complains about the “red tape” of over-regulation by government, but Trump has done something about it, in 2025 repealing 129 existing regulations for every one new regulation.
Bringing factories back to the United States, insisting that NATO nations increase spending on defense, rejecting unfair trade deals, and shifting global energy dominance from the Persian Gulf to what Trump calls the “Gulf of America” - how can our Democrat friends deny these positive moves?
But, sadly, they do.
Vociferously.
Granted, the current price of gasoline is a burden to us all, but it's a small, temporary price to pay to keep the lunatic leaders of Iran from getting the bomb.
What's the Democrat policy for preventing a nuclear-armed Iran?
How much progress are we willing to forgo simply because one of our political parties suffers from terminal Trump Derangement Syndrome?
If the polls are right, and Democrats take back the House and maybe the Senate, then God help our country.
Surely we're smarter than that.
