UPDATE 1:22 p.m.: This story has been updated to reflect Adrian Maggos is in Cheyenne Police Department custody.
The man at the center of a manhunt following an early morning shooting in a central Cheyenne neighborhood had been caught by early afternoon and detectives are talking to him, the Cheyenne Police Department reports.
He also was once accused of attacking the boyfriend of an ex-girlfriend with spiked brass knuckles.
Adrian Maggos, who also uses the alias Adrian Chapple, is a suspect in the Thursday morning shooting in the 100 block of East Third Avenue, the Cheyenne Police Department reports.
Police were "actively working" to locate the 27-year-old for hours, and warned residents that he was "believed to be armed."
The shooting was reported early Thursday morning, and one man was taken to the hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries, according to the Cheyenne Police Department.
The victim’s condition, possible motive for the shooting and other details haven’t been released during the active investigation.
The owner of the rental property where the shooting happened declined to comment when contacted by Cowboy State Daily. A neighbor in the area also declined to comment.
Dozens of police and sheriff vehicles lined Central and Warren avenues before 6 a.m. as law enforcement officials investigated the area between the two major roadways.
Police tape enclosed the perimeter of one house on the tree-lined street in the hours after the incident, and neighbors congregated outside the home. By about 9:30 a.m., the scene had been cleared by police.
By 1:18 p.m., the agency had reported Maggos was in custody and that "detectives are speaking with him now."
Another Case
Court records show Maggos was previously arrested in August 2022 on suspicion of aggravated assault and battery.
According to investigators, he allegedly entered his ex-girlfriend’s home and attacked her boyfriend while the couple was sleeping.
The victim told police Maggos used brass knuckles with spikes, striking him multiple times in the face, head and chest, court documents show.
The other man also reported being placed in a chokehold before managing to break free by slamming Maggos into a dresser and fleeing the home. A female witness corroborated the account, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in the case.
Responding officers documented a 1-inch gash on the victim’s forehead, blood from his mouth and lips, a developing black eye and a swollen right hand believed to be broken.
Maggos was found not guilty of the charge following a two-day jury trial in February 2023.
