A Laramie man who witnesses say had been acting “crazy all week” and pulling a knife on people is accused of stabbing another man during an early morning bar fight.

Brady Michael Deming, 22, made his initial appearance in Albany County Circuit Court on Wednesday on felony charges of aggravated assault and battery and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent.

The stabbing was the culmination of a chaotic night for Deming, who allegedly also threatened a group of women at another bar earlier, according to an affidavit of probable cause written by Laramie Police Officer O’Brian Myers.

When he arrived at the Ranger Bar in Laramie just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday, a man identified in the affidavit as C.W. was being given medical treatment by other patrons at the bar.

“C.W. was being carried outside by two uninvolved subjects,” the affidavit says. “C.W. had a belt wrapped around his upper leg that was being used as a tourniquet.”

Myers wrote that he “noticed a puncture wound approximately a half inch in length on C.W.’s right leg just underneath the tourniquet.

“The puncture wound was consistent with a stab wound that would have been made with a knife … (and) was actively bleeding.”

‘Blood All Over Him’

By the time police and emergency medical responders arrived, Deming had apparently fled the bar and wasn’t at his residence when the LPD tried to contact him there, the affidavit says.

He was later located and arrested, although court documents don’t say where or how long after the bar incident he was taken into custody.

At the bar, however, there were many witnesses, who all identified Deming as the alleged stabber, the affidavit says.

“The defendant got into a physical altercation with another male inside the bar,” Myers wrote. “C.W. approached them and got into a tussle with Deming. Deming made a stabbing motion with his arm (and the witness) noticed C.W. had been stabbed in the leg.”

Another witness identified as M.D. said she encountered Deming earlier that evening at another bar, where he allegedly pulled a knife on her.

“M.D. knew Deming from several previous contacts and identified him by his full name,” the affidavit says. “Earlier that evening, Deming pulled a knife on M.D. while she was at Roxie’s Bar.”

She later just happened to see him again at the Ranger Bar.

“C.W. was trying to get Deming away from his friend,” she told police, according to the affidavit. “C.W. (was) on the ground and Deming was on top of C.W. Deming had C.W. in a chokehold and C.W. had blood all over him.”

‘Knife!’

For C.W.’s part, he was trying to stick up for his female friends after learning Deming had allegedly pulled a knife on them earlier that night, the affidavit says, relating an interview with the man at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.

“C.W.’s friend approached Deming inside the Ranger Bar and wanted to talk to him about pulling a knife on their other friends,” the affidavit says. “Deming pushed C.W.’s friend, (and) C.W. approached them and tried separating them so the situation would not escalate.”

The man grabbed Deming from behind to pull him away, and they fell to the floor.

“While on the ground, C.W. felt Deming’s hand on his leg. C.W. grabbed Deming’s hand and pulled it upward,” the affidavit says. “As C.W. pulled Deming’s hand upward, he heard people yell, ‘Knife!’”

That’s when the man noticed he had been stabbed in the upper right leg.

If convicted on the pair of felony charges, Deming could face up to 15 years in prison, fines of up to $11,000, or both.
