Dear editor:

Columnist Rod Miller tried his best to smear The John Birch Society (JBS). He out-theorized the best of conspiracy theorists, claiming that the WY GOP is “in bed with” JBS or is branded (owned and controlled) by it.

Alas! If only us “Birchers” would have known that all it takes to control a state political party was to get the Central Committee to allow us to present an award to our US Representative for upholding the US Constitution! Who knew?

Mr. Miller asserts the Society made unfounded claims that communists and other tyrants had infiltrated our government and filled the UN in order to run roughshod over the rights of mankind. But two years of dictatorship in the name of stopping COVID confirmed the Society’s warnings were spot on.

Yes, JBS did pioneer the culture war in our successful campaign to prevent businesses from participating in the “United Nations—We Believe” campaign that would have significantly contributed to the secularization of Christmas while using the holiday as part of a larger marketing campaign to promote the godless UN as the savior of the world and a messenger of “Peace.” Sound familiar?

Regarding Eisenhower, the media smeared JBS Founder, Robert Welch, by repeating a conclusion he made without any context.

After nearly 300 pages in Welch’s book (The Politician) documenting how Eisenhower had consistently helped the Communist cause in big ways (look up Operation Keelhaul), the author wrote that Ike could be just dumb, but he probably knew what he was doing. Welch’s larger point on the same page was that “The firm grip on our government, of the forces that have worked through [the President], is more important than [the President] himself.” The media made sure not to mention THAT idea. Sound familiar?

Last, Miller pulled the “race card” with a wild accusation that JBS was just like the KKK, without any evidence whatsoever. Well, come see for yourself at one of our meetings, and it should be obvious if this is true, shouldn’t it? Or one can at least visit jbs.org. The media wouldn’t lie to you, would they?
