Don Day Wyoming Weather Forecast: Sunday, April 2, 2023

Confidence remains high that a strong winter-like storm will bring snow, strong winds and much colder temperatures to Wyoming. The storm will come in two phases.

It’s Sunday, April 2 – and while most of the Cowboy State will experience sun and wind today, a storm starting late tonight could impact livestock and travel in the next couple of days. Wyoming is in the bullseye of an intense winter storm, which will bring very cold air (single digits or even below zero temperatures) and snow, beginning tomorrow.

Central:

Mostly sunny and windy today in Casper, with a high near 44 and winds gusting as high as 43 mph. Sunny and breezy in Lander today, with a high near 40 and wind gusts as high as 26 mph. Mostly sunny and breezy in Shoshoni today, with a high near 44 and wind gusts as high as 37 mph.

Casper could see less than an inch of snow overnight, with a low around 26; breezy, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Snow is likely tonight in Lander, with a low around 22; new snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. There’s a 30 percent chance of snow overnight in Shoshoni, with a low around 19; blustery, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Southwest:

There’s a 50% chance of snow this afternoon in Rock Springs (less than half an inch possible), with a high near 41; breezy, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Snow is likely this morning in Evanston (less than half an inch possible), otherwise mostly cloudy and breezy with a high near 34 and gusts as high as 34 mph. There’s a 40 percent chance of snow today in Kemmerer (less than half an inch possible), otherwise partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 36 and gusts as high as 37 mph. 

Rock Springs could see 1 to 3 inches of new snow overnight, with a low around 23; breezy, with gusts as high as 28 mph. 3 to 7 inches of new snow is expected to fall in Evanston overnight, with a low around 21. Kemmerer can expect 2 to 4 inches of new snow overnight, with a low around 19; breezy, with gusts as high as 26 mph. 

Western Wyoming:

There’s a 40 percent chance of snow today in Pinedale (less than half an inch possible), otherwise partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 27 and wind gusts as high as 28 mph. Around an inch of new snow is expected in Alpine today, with a high near 32; breezy, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Thayne can expect less than an inch of new snow today, with a high near 33. 

Pinedale has a 40 percent chance of snow overnight, with a low around 13; new snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. There’s a 40 percent chance of snow tonight in Alpine, with a low around 18; new snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Thayne has a 40 percent chance of snow overnight (less than half an inch possible), with a low around 19. 

Northwest:

Dubois has a 40 percent chance of snow today, otherwise partly sunny and windy, with a high near 33 and gusts as high as 46 mph; new snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. There’s a 30 percent chance of snow today in Yellowstone National Park, otherwise partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 31 and wind gusts as high as 28 mph. Jackson can expect less than an inch of new snow today, otherwise mostly cloudy and breezy, with a high near 31 and gusts as high as 24 mph. 

There’s a 40 percent chance of snow overnight in Dubois (less than half an inch possible), with a low around 17; breezy, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Yellowstone has a slight chance of snow tonight, otherwise partly cloudy and breezy, with a low around 14 and wind gusts as high as 21 mph. There’s a 30 percent chance of snow overnight in Jackson, otherwise mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. 

Bighorn Basin:

Sunny and windy in Cody today, with a high near 39 and wind gusts as high as 40 mph. Sunny today in Lovell, with a high near 46; windy, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Mostly sunny and windy today in Thermopolis, with a high near 47 and gusts as high as 43 mph.

Increasing clouds overnight in Cody, with a low around 21; breezy, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Increasing clouds in Lovell tonight, with a low around 25; breezy, with gusts as high as 31 mph. There’s a 50 percent chance of snow overnight in Thermopolis (less than half an inch possible), with a low around 26; windy, with gusts as high as 34 mph. 

North Central:

Mostly sunny and breezy today in Sheridan, with a high near 43 and 17 to 22 mph winds. There’s a 20 percent chance of snow showers this afternoon in Big Horn, otherwise mostly sunny, with a high near 42. Mostly sunny and breezy today in Ranchester, with a high near 41 and winds 18 to 23 mph in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy in Sheridan overnight, with a low around 17. Mostly cloudy tonight in Big Horn with a low around 18. Mostly cloudy and breezy overnight in Ranchester, with a low around 17 and winds 17 to 22 mph.

Northeast:

Mostly sunny today in Newcastle, with a high near 45 and wind chill values as low as 17; breezy, with winds gusting as high as 37 mph. Mostly cloudy this morning in Gillette, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 42 and morning wind chill values as low as 18; breezy, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Mostly sunny today in Hulett, with a high near 45 and morning wind chill values as low as 16; breezy, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

There’s a 20 percent chance of snow overnight in Newcastle, with a low around 24 and wind chill values as low as 14; breezy, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Mostly cloudy tonight in Gillette, with a low around 25 and wind chill values as low as 17; breezy, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Partly cloudy and breezy tonight in Hulett, with a low around 21 and wind chill values as low as 12; winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Eastern Plains:

Southeast:

South Central:

There’s a 30 percent chance of snow this afternoon in Saratoga, otherwise partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 39 and wind gusts as high as 35 mph. Rawlins has a 20 percent chance of snow today, otherwise partly sunny, with a high near 38; windy, with gusts as high as 40 mph. There’s a 30 percent chance of snow this afternoon in Wamsutter, otherwise partly sunny and windy, with a high near 33 and gusts as high as 38 mph.

Saratoga could see between 1 and 3 inches of new snow overnight, with a low around 26; breezy, with gusts as high as 30 mph. 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected overnight in Rawlins, with a low around 27; breezy, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Wamsutter can expect between 1 to 3 inches of new snow tonight with a low around 19.
