It’s Monday, February 20th –  and heavy snow, strong winds and frigid temperatures are on the way. Although today’s outlook is relatively mild, winds will be strong in the southeast, and nearly the entire state is under a winter storm warning – so stay safe out there!

Central:

Mostly cloudy in Casper today, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 40; windy, with gusts as high as 47 mph.  Mostly sunny today in Lander, with a high near 35. Mostly cloudy and breezy in Shoshoni this morning, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 34 and wind gusts as high as 20 mph.

There’s a 20 percent chance of rain late tonight in Casper, with a low around 37; very windy, though, with gusts as high as 70 mph. A 20 percent chance of snow in Lander overnight, with a low around 19; breezy, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Increasing clouds in Shoshoni tonight, with a low around 10. 

Southwest:

Mostly cloudy and windy in Rock Springs today, with a high near 35 and wind gusts as high as 45 mph. Mostly cloudy today in Kemmerer, with a high near 33; windy, with gusts as high as 40 mph. There’s a 20 percent chance of snow today in Evanston, with a high near 30 and wind chill values as low as 7; breezy, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Mostly cloudy overnight in Rock Springs, with a low around 28; windy, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Kemmerer has a chance of snow tonight, with a low around 23; windy, with gusts as high as 50 mph. There’s a chance of snow overnight in Evanston (less than half an inch), with a low around 26; breezy, with gusts as high as 41 mph. 

Western Wyoming:

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM WEDNESDAY

Afton can expect about a half inch of snow today, with a high near 29 and wind gusts as high as 21 mph. There’s a slight chance of snow today in Pinedale, otherwise partly sunny, with a high near 30; blustery, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Cloudy and breezy near La Barge today, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 32 and wind chill values as low as zero; patchy blowing snow is expected most of the day, with winds gusting as high as 28 mph.

1-2 inches of snow is expected overnight in Afton, with a low around 21; breezy, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Snow is likely tonight in Pinedale (less than half an inch), with a low around 14. La Barge has a 30 percent chance of snow with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 10, with wind chill values as low as zero; breezy, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Northwest:

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM WEDNESDAY

Snow in Jackson today (less than an inch expected), with a high near 32; breezy, with gusts as high as 28 mph. The northeast corner of Yellowstone National Park can expect around 7 inches of snow today, with a high near 32; wind speeds between 22-26 mph expected. Dubois has a 50 percent chance of snow (about a half inch possible), otherwise mostly sunny and very windy, with a high near 40 and gusts as high as 55 mph. 

3-5 inches of snow is expected overnight in Jackson, with a low around 19; windy, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Overnight, Yellowstone could see around 10 inches of new snow, with a steady temperature around 27; windy, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Snow is likely tonight in Dubois (less than half an inch expected), with a low around 32; very windy, with gusts as high as 55 mph. 

Bighorn Basin:

There’s a 20 percent chance of snow this morning in Worland, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 37. Cody has a slight chance of snow today, with a high near 42; breezy, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Mostly cloudy today in Thermopolis, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 41. 

Mostly cloudy tonight in Worland, with a low around 22. There’s a chance of rain and snow overnight in Cody (less than half an inch possible), with a low around 32; very windy, with winds gusting as high as 55 mph. Increasing clouds tonight in Thermopolis, with a steady temperature around 34; breezy, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

North Central:

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM WEDNESDAY

Snow is likely in Buffalo today (around an inch possible), with a steady temperature around 32; breezy, with winds gusting as high as 24 mph.  2 inches of snow is expected in Sheridan and in Ranchester today, with a steady temperature around 30. 

There’s a 20 percent chance of snow in Buffalo overnight, with a low around 25. Sheridan has a 20 percent chance of snow, with a steady temperature around 26. There’s a 30 percent chance of snow in Ranchester tonight (less than half an inch possible), with a low around 20. 

Northeast:

Snow is likely in Gillette today (less than an inch expected), with a high near 38 and wind chill values as low as 17; breezy, with gusts as high as 30 mph. 1-3 inches of snow is expected in Sundance today, with a high near 35 and wind chill values as low as 11; breezy, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Hulett can expect 1-2 inches of snow today, with temperatures rising to near 35 by noon, then falling to around 29 during the remainder of the day, and wind chill values as low as 19; breezy, with gusts as high as 29 mph. 

Gillette can expect increasing clouds overnight, with a temperature rising to around 34, but wind chill values as low as 11; breezy, with gusts as high as 36 mph. There’s a slight chance of snow tonight in Sundance, with a temperature rising to around 27 and wind chill values as low as 8; breezy, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Hulett has a 20 percent chance of snow, with a low around 20 and wind chill values as low as 11; breezy, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Eastern Plains:

Mostly sunny and windy today in Torrington, with a high near 51 and wind gusts as high as 45 mph. Mostly sunny today in Wheatland, with a high near 47; very windy, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Mostly cloudy and windy in Midwest today, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 37; winds could gust as high as 41 mph.

Partly cloudy overnight in Torrington, with a low around 32; windy, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Partly cloudy in Wheatland tonight, with a low around 37; high winds could gust as high as 65 mph. Partly cloudy tonight in Chugwater, with a steady temperature around 38, but high winds could gust as high as 65 mph. South Central:

HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT

There’s a 20 percent chance of snow today in Rawlins, with a high near 33; very windy, with gusts as high as 65 mph. Encampment has a 40 percent chance of snow today, with a high near 32; windy, with gusts as high as 45 mph. There’s a 30 percent chance of snow in Baggs today, with a high near 36; breezy, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Rawlins has a 20 percent chance of snow overnight, with a steady temperature around 31; very windy, with gusts as high as 70 mph. There’s a 50 percent chance of snow in Encampment tonight, with a steady temperature around 29; windy, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Baggs has a 20 percent chance of snow tonight, with a low around 20; breezy, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
