Its Saturday, January 28th and winter weather is blanketing the state. Snow will continue to fall in many locations -- up to 1/2 inch to 1 inch per hour in some areas. A total of 1-2 feet of snow is possible in the mountains before the storm is over.

It’s Saturday, January 28th – and winter weather is blanketing the state. Snow will continue to fall in most areas of Wyoming and up to 1/2 inch to 1 inch per hour through in some locations. A total of 1-2 feet of snow is possible in the mountains before the storm is over.

Central Wyoming:

Lander and Casper can expect 2-4 inches of new snow today, with temperatures falling to around 10 by 5pm and wind chill values as low as -5. 1-3 inches of snow is expected in Shoshoni today, with temperatures falling to around 8, and wind chill values as low as -10; winds could gust as high as 23 mph.

Overnight, Lander could see up to 2 more inches of snow, with temperatures around -8 and wind chill values as low as -15. Just an inch of snow is expected overnight in Casper, with a low around -2, but wind chill values as low as -20; winds could gust as high as 20 mph. There’s a 50 percent chance of snow in Shoshoni overnight; mostly cloudy, with a low around -9, and wind chill values as low as -20.

Southwest Wyoming:

A slight chance of snow showers in Rock Springs today, otherwise partly sunny, with a high near 27; winds could gust as high as 27 mph. Partly sunny and breezy in Kemmerer today, with a 30 percent chance of snow after 5 p.m.; temperatures today will hover around 19, with wind chill values as low as zero, and wind gusts as high as 31 mph. South Pass is dangerous today, with 2-4 inches of snow possible and winds gusting as high as 20 mph; temperatures rising to near 14 by noon, then falling to around 3 later in the day; wind chill values as low as -15.

Overnight, Rock Springs has a 40 percent chance of snow; mostly cloudy, with a low around 3 and wind chill values as low as -15. An inch of snow could fall overnight in Kemmerer, with lows around -5 and wind chill values as low as -10. 1-3 inches of new snow is expected on South Pass, with wind gusts as high as 21 mph; temperatures as low as -7, with wind chill values as low as -25.

Western Wyoming:

1-3 inches of snow expected in Star Valley today, with temperatures rising to near 22 by 11am, then falling to around 16 during the remainder of the day. Dubois can expect 2-4 inches of snow today, with temperatures falling to around 5 by early evening, and wind chill values as low as -10; winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Jackson could see an inch of snow fall today, with temperatures rising to near 21 by noon, then falling to around 14 the rest of the day.

Overnight, Star Valley can expect 1-3 inches of new snow, with lows around 8 and wind chill values as low as -5. Less than an inch of new snow is expected overnight in Dubois, with lows around -8 and wind chill values as low as -20; winds could gust as high as 20 mph. 1-2 inches of snow could fall in Jackson tonight, with lows around 1 and wind chill values as low as -10.

Bighorn Basin:

Cody could see around an inch of snow today, with temperatures falling to around 4 by early evening, and wind chill values as low as -15; winds could gust as high as 33 mph. 1-3 inches of snow is possible in Thermopolis, with temperatures falling to around 9 by this evening, and wind chill values as low as -5; winds could gust as high as 26 mph. In Lovell, less than an inch of snow is expected today, with temperatures falling to around 8 by this evening, with wind chill values as low as -10; winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

There’s a 40 percent chance of snow overnight in Cody, with lows around -5 and wind chill values as low as -20; winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Less than an inch of snow is expected in Thermopolis tonight, with lows around -5, but wind chill values as low as -10. Just a 30 percent chance of snow overnight in Lovell, with lows around -1 and wind chill values as low as -15; winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Northeast Wyoming:

2-4 inches of snow is possible in Newcastle today, with highs near 21 and wind chill values as low as 5. Sheridan could see 2 inches of snowfall today, with temperatures falling to around 9 by this evening, and wind chill values as low as -5. Up in Hulett, 1-2 inches of snow could fall today, with highs near 17 and wind chill values as low as -5.

Overnight, there’s a 50 percent chance of snow in Newcastle, with lows around -7 and wind chill values as low as -14. Less than a half inch of snow could fall in Sheridan tonight, with lows around -6. There’s just a 20 percent chance of snow in Hulett overnight, with lows around -12 and wind chill values as low as -19.

Eastern Plains:

Douglas and Lusk could see 1-3 inches of snowfall today, with temperatures falling to around 9 by this evening, and wind chill values between -5 and 5. Less than 1 inch of snow is expected in Torrington today, with temperatures falling to around 12 by this evening, and wind chill values between zero and 10.

There’s a 50 percent chance of snow across the eastern plains overnight; low temperatures around -9 in Douglas and -4 in Lusk and Torrington, with wind chill values between -10 and -20. 

Southeast Wyoming:

There’s a 50 percent chance of snow in Cheyenne today, with temperatures falling to around 16. An inch of snow is possible in Saratoga, with highs near 26; winds could gust as high as 30 mph. 1-3 inches of snow could fall in Medicine Bow, with highs near 24. 

Snow is likely in Cheyenne overnight, but less than an inch of new snow is expected; lows around -2, with wind chill values between -5 and -15. Saratoga can expect less than an inch of new snow overnight, with lows around 7 and wind chill values between -5 and zero. Around an inch of snow could fall in Medicine Bow tonight, with lows around 2 and wind chill values between -5 and -15.
