U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney on Friday was quick to applaud the announcement of the FDA’s approval of a new Covid-19 vaccine.
Friday evening’s announcement means that the first round of vaccines — some 2.9 million doses — will be distributed within a day.
“This is a great development in our nation’s fight to defeat COVID-19,” Cheney tweeted.
“This was made possible thanks to American ingenuity, medical innovation, and the historic public-private partnerships of Operation Warp Speed,” she said.
According to Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon, Wyoming could now receive 5,000 doses of the vaccine within 24 hours. Earlier in the week, he told members of the Joint Appropriations Committee that upon FDA approval the initial shipment of doses would be on its way immediately.
Despite the historic news, some commenters on Cheney’s Facebook page expressed doubt and disbelief and there was the usual round of conspiracy theories.
“I bet it cost a lot of money from the Clinton foundation to get them to approve it illegally. Because no vaccines are safe and just another way to infect people,” one person wrote.
“Won’t trust anything made that fast for bs. Explain why China doesn’t have a vaccine and THEY mutated it,” wrote another.
