CASPER — The Casper Police Department confirmed Saturday that both people involved in a shooting at a local home Friday evening are dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
A male shooter and his female victim have as a result of an incident in the 500 block of CY Avenue, the CPD reports.
Police Department spokesperson Rebekah Ladd said Saturday that an adult man and woman were transported to Banner Wyoming Medical Center on Friday evening where “they were later pronounced deceased.”
Officers were dispatched to the home in the 500 block of CY Avenue about 6 p.m. after a caller to 911 told a dispatcher that a “woman’s former boyfriend had shot her mother,” Ladd said.
“While still on the phone with dispatchers, the caller reported that the former boyfriend had then shot himself,” Ladd added. “Upon arrival officers located two adults with apparent gunshot wounds consistent with the caller’s statements.”
Casper Police Department’s Victim Services staff responded to the residence to provide support for the caller, Ladd said.
No Threat
After the initial call Friday evening, there was a significant police presence outside 542 CY Avenue, which was cordoned off with yellow crime-scene tape.
Police reported at the time that there was no danger to the public and that they weren’t searching for a suspect.
The preliminary investigation shows that the incident was isolated and there is no ongoing threat. The Natrona County Coroner’s Office will release the identities of the deceased, Ladd reported Saturday.
She said the investigation remains active as detectives gather more information surrounding the incident.
On Saturday afternoon, the police tape had been removed from around the home and cleaning services trucks were in the driveway and in front of the home.
Casper Police is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 307-235-8278.
