To the editor:
Although I am a native Texan, my time lived in Wyoming was a wonderful experience that I value and the Western experience is one that I honor.
The argument that any change in laws or statutes to address the “wolf torture” situation would have to be so narrow as to avoid the likelihood of interfering with hunting, can be rebutted by two words: coyote mashing.
Apparently, the practice of running down varmits from a motorized vehicle is big fun in the Equality State. No. It is actually cruelty and an outward expression of disdain for the nature of the animal being “mashed.”
Coyotes and wolves cannot deny their own carnivorous nature.
But we as humans CAN deny our vengeful nature. If a coyote is hunted, shoot it. If a wolf is hunted, shoot it. “Mashing” any animal should be illegal.
