In what has become the latest bid to remain popular with the Wyoming electorate, establishment republicans in Wyoming have taken to labeling those associated with the Wyoming Freedom Caucus as "populists," rather than true conservatives.

According to these establishment republicans, the Freedom Caucus only cares about "hot-button issues" and "talking points," rather than "real republican values."

But let's examine this claim for one second by asking a simple question: what is a populist in 2023?

If it is considered "populist" to fight back against the radical left's push to place pornography in our schools, then sign me up.

If it is considered "populist" to publicly declare that men are men, and women are women, and that we should prevent men from entering women's sports and spaces, then sign me up.

If it is considered "populist" to ban the chemical castration of children, then sign me up.

If it is considered "populist" to advocate for meaningful school choice, not watered down welfare programs and universal pre-k, then sign me up.

If it is considered "populist" to advocate for Wyoming's legacy industries of oil, gas, coal, and agriculture, rather than bow to the climate change cult and commit to making Wyoming "carbon negative," as Governor Gordon recently did, then sign me up.

If it is considered "populist" to attack the ESG movement by demanding Wyoming divest from Blackrock and other woke investment firms that have become intent on undercutting our economy and way of life, then sign me up.

If it is considered "populist" to actually fight for values that were considered the bedrock of our society only a few short years ago, but are under relentless attack from the radical left today, then sign me up.

It seems as though, in the eyes of establishment republicans, it is now considered "populist" to make basic and timeless truths a priority, and to forward legislation that promotes actual conservatism.

In 2023, this is exactly what the Wyoming Freedom Caucus did, to the dismay of the establishment in Cheyenne. You can call us populists.

You can call us members of the angry mob. You can call us a "barbarian horde." In fact, you can call us whatever you want. But given the economic and moral decay of the world in 2023, Wyoming is demanding that we actually fight against the encroachments of the radical left before we lose our state.

As we move into the 2024 Legislative Session, I and other members of the Wyoming Freedom Caucus plan to do just that by promoting work, saving our homes, protecting our kids, restoring our freedoms, and restraining the growth of government.
