UPDATE: Woman Killed, Two Suspects In Custody

A young woman was shot Monday evening in the parking lot outside of the southeastern entrance of the Frontier Mall at 1400 Del Range Blvd. in Cheyenne.

The Cheyenne Police Department told Cowboy State Daily that the shooting was reported at 6 p.m. on Monday. The name of the victim and her condition has not been released.

The suspect, 18-year-old Cody Nicholson, was on the run for just over two hours before being located near Logan and 15th Street and was taken into custody at about 8:45 p.m.

Bystanders who congregated outside the crime scene said that the victim of the shooting was a young woman. Some told Cowboy State Daily she was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Others said she died at the scene.

More than a dozen police officers responded to the area and were interviewing people, while others were talking to grieving family members.

Police spokesperson Alex Farkas stopped communicating with the press after 9 p.m. so the condition of the victim is still unknown.

Efforts to reach out to Farkas were unsuccessful.
