U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney told Fox News this week that Congressional Democrats are desperate if they are considering impeaching President Donald Trump for nominating a replacement for the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
In a short segment, Cheney responded to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s comments on CNN, when the Democratic representative said Republicans would be “paying the price for elections to come” if they nominated Ginsberg’s replacement before the presidential election.
Cheney said that Trump was doing his constitutional duty by nominating a Supreme Court replacement. She anticipated that the Senate would confirm the nominee.
This would be the president’s second Supreme Court nomination, following Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Cheney also said the American people are sick of Democrats’ calls to abolish the Electoral College, although it should be noted that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden doesn’t agree with this argument.
“The more the Democrats act as though they’re willing to burn the whole place down, that they do not believe in the Constitution, the more threats they make about court packing, the more the American people are just sick of it,” she said.
