Cheyenne boy-turned-hero Bridger Walker is getting a lot of attention from across the world for his efforts to save his sister from an attacking dog.
Late Wednesday, actor Chris Evans — who plays Captain America— reached out to say well done.
In the 90-second video, Evans said he was going to send Walker an “authentic Captain America shield” for his heroic efforts.
“Pal, you are a hero,” Evans said. “What you did was so brave, so selfless, your sister is lucky to have you as a big brother.”
Evans encouraged the 6-year-old to hang in there during recovery but had no doubts Bridger would make it through.
“I know recovery might be tough but based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think there is much that can slow you down,” he said.
“Keep being the man you are. We need people like you,” Evans said.
Bridger, who was watching the video in his own Captain America outfit, was at a loss for words when asked by his family what they thought.
His sister, though, sounded her approval immediately.
“I think that’s awesome,” she said,
When his family told Bridger he could hang the shield on his wall or take it to Jujitsu tournaments, his sister had a better idea.
“You can take it with you wherever you go,” she said.
Bridger has also been congratulated by Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo and Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson.
