CASPER — The Casper Police Department responded to a shooting in the 500 block of CY Avenue on Friday evening that sent two people to the hospital.

Casper Police Department Sgt. Jake Bigelow stood outside a home at 542 CY Avenue that was cordoned off with yellow crime-scene tape as CPD vehicles blocked vehicle access at South Oak and South Spruce streets.

“We have a shooting, it is currently under investigation,” Bigelow said. “There is no danger to the public and no suspect at large.”

Bigelow said the department was dispatched to the home about 6:15 p.m. He said two people were sent to the hospital as a result of the shooting.

He declined to answer questions about the ages or sexes of those involved. He also declined to answer whether the shooter was still alive.

“There is no suspect at large,” he said.

A statement by the Casper Police Department about the shooting said only that the department was investigating an incident and that the department believed there was no threat to the public.

A call to the Casper Police Department for further information was not immediately returned.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
