GILLETTE — The Gillette Police Department, family and friends of a Gillette woman missing for more than three weeks are asking for the public’s help in locating her.

Kelsey Johnson, 32, was last seen by a friend April 14 getting picked up by a man in an older model Dodge pickup at a trailer home in Gillette, police report.

She was officially reported missing Tuesday, police say.

Johnson’s best friend, Joslyn Wickard, believes her friend may be in the Greeley or Denver area in Colorado.

Wickard said someone claiming to be Johnson sent a text to one of their mutual friends April 23 asking for $20 so she could sleep in the back of a thrift store in Denver.

The friend sent the money via a cash app, but there’s no way to know for sure if the person texting was actually Johnson, Wickard said.

‘I’m Really Worried About Her’

Wickard told Cowboy State Daily that she’s very concerned for her friend’s safety because she’s not known to go off the radar for so long without contacting family or one of her friends.

“She wouldn’t go a couple days without contacting one of us,” she said. “I’m really worried about her.”

She also believes the vehicle Johnson left in was an older model blue crew cab pickup with a red passenger door.

She said that she and others became suspicious when Johnson failed to return for Easter and missed her son’s birthday.

Her son lives with his father, but Johnson would never intentionally skip his birthday without at least calling him, Wickard said.

“That’s when everyone began questioning where she was,” Wickard said.

Asking For Help

The lack of communication from Johnson has her concerned, Wickard said.

In the past, if Johnson was homeless or out of state and able to call someone for help, she would, Wickard said. The two have known each other since meeting in 2010, and Johnson has always stayed in close contact.

The Gillette Police Department confirmed that Johnson was still missing as of Wednesday and had no additional updates or details to add beyond its earlier statement, said Deputy Chief of Police Brent Wasson.

Police said that detectives have spoken to several of Kelsey’s friends who confirmed they have not spoken with her in two to three weeks, according to the statement.

They urged anyone with information to contact the department.

Johnson, who sometimes also goes by Kelsey Hall, is described as 5 feet, 2 inches and around 165 pounds. She has brown hair with maroon or pink highlights.

She also has piercings in her ears, tongue, one eyebrow and lip, according to police.

Additionally, she has several tattoos, including “Ashlyn” on her right hand, a Gemini symbol on the back of her neck, a long quote on her chest, stars on her left foot and other unspecified tattoos on her right arm, left arm and right foot.

She also is known to wear glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gillette Police Department at 307-682-5155.

Tips also can be anonymously reported online to the Gillette Police Department or to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation’s tipline.
