Dear editor:
The proposed bills to allow concealed carry and open carry on a national basis has two sides to it.
For those who carry frequently or always, as well as shoot consistently, the idea of having your firearm when traveling is appealing.
This significant group to which I also belong, for the most part understand the complete dynamics of safety and the need for continual practice.
Conversely this proposed legislation may also result in those who would never have even thought about buying a gun, or those who just plain should not have a gun, to go get a gun, just for the sake that they now can pack it anywhere.
Unfortunately a portion of that segment will only undergo the minimum of safety and handling training required, as well as not shooting on a consistent basis.
And therein lies the harm that could result.
Sincerely,
Pete Critelli, Red Lodge
