In her third campaign to get the Republican nomination for House District 24, Nina Webber beat Cody Mayor Matt Hall in a 962-745 vote in Tuesday’s primary election. The seat is currently occupied by outgoing incumbent Sandy Newsome.

Webber served as Hot Springs County clerk before moving to Park County. She currently serves as a National Committeewoman for the Wyoming Republican Party. This was her third primary campaign for House District 24, losing the nomination to Newsome in 2020 and 2022.

“I think the people of Park County spoke,” Webber told Cowboy State Daily, “They are tired of being represented by the woke agenda and tax-and-spend Republicans who aren't Republicans.”

The Candidates

Webber campaigned on reducing government spending and auditing all state-funded entities while opposing any new taxes, Medicaid expansion and any “radical school curriculum” in Wyoming.

Hall has served two terms as the mayor of Cody and currently serves as the president of the Wyoming Association of Municipalities. He touted his success in maintaining a fiscally conservative budget during a time when Cody’s population grew and pledged to bring the same fiscal discipline to the Wyoming House.

This was Hall’s first campaign for the Wyoming Legislature.

Night And Day

Hall and Webber campaigned on different ends of the spectrum, especially in relation to the incumbent Newsome.

Hall vowed to continue Newsome’s focus on fostering the growth of outdoor recreation and tourism in Park County and Wyoming, while Webber said there’d be a “night and day difference” between herself and Newsome.

Webber claimed that Hall’s terms as Cody’s mayor demonstrated that he does not follow the Republican platform, while she is a strict adherent to the Republican platform and the legislative goals of the Wyoming Freedom Caucus.

Webber thanked her supporters for their time and resources, saying her primary victory was “the first step in combating the woke virus” in Wyoming.

“I am truly blessed to live in this community,” she said. “Thanks for being there for me.”
