UPDATE: Cheyenne Teen Shot Dead After Being Shot

A teenage girl is in critical condition at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center after being shot in the head at Lincoln Park in the early morning hours Sunday.

Cheyenne Police Department officers responded to the park, 315 E. 8th St. in south Cheyenne, at about 12:25 a.m. on the report of a shooting, according to a Sunday morning statement from the CPD.

“At the scene, responding officers located a female victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the head,” the statement says. “She was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.”

The incident remains and active investigation, CPD spokeswoman Alexandra Farkas told Cowboy State Daily.

No arrests have been made, but detectives have identified several people of interest in the shooting, she said.

“Based on information obtained during the investigation, it is believed to be an isolated incident,” according to the CPD statement.

Other details about why the teen was at the park so late and what may have led up to the shooting are being investigated, Farkas said, adding the girl was shot one time.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Detective Mike Fernandez at 307-633-6638.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
