As many Tinder users throughout the state can agree, personal finance website WalletHub has declared Wyoming one of the worst states for dating.
In a rank of the best states for dating, Wyoming came in 46th place. WalletHub compared all 50 states across 29 indicators of dating-friendliness, which included share of single adults to movie costs to nightlife options per capita.
Wyoming had a low ranking due to its lacking share in single adults and fewest restaurants per capita. Kansas ranked just above Wyoming at number 45 and New Mexico came in just under Wyoming.
Thankfully, we aren’t in the worst state for dating, which went to West Virginia, due to its few online and mobile dating opportunities and lowest annual median income.
Florida and California took the top two spots, due to their most movie theaters and restaurants per capita.
“Singlehood is on the rise in the United States and many other countries,” Southern Illinois University Edwardsville professor Paul Rose said. “It would be wise for local authorities to pay attention to demographic trends as they consider how to invest their scarce dollars in ways that promote a high quality-of-life. The good news is that the types of investments that would be appreciated by rising numbers of singles do not require drastic shifts in typical priorities. Both single and non-single people enjoy public places and activities that encourage rich conversation, learning about cultures, physical activity, creative expression, charitable work, etc.”
