Energy Reporter (Cheyenne)

Cowboy State Daily, Wyoming’s fastest-growing news organization, is looking for an energy reporter to cover coal, oil, natural gas, trona, nuclear, wind, solar, and related topics and industries in Wyoming.

This is one of Cowboy State Daily’s most important beats as changes in the energy industry have had and will continue to have an enormous impact on Wyoming’s economy.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in covering energy issues and related topics — including government regulations — or have the proven ability to quickly adapt to new coverage subjects.

The candidate should have the experience and/or the drive to understand energy policy and the dynamics of the various markets and industry trends, as well as how policy is made and influenced by people such as government and industry officials and lobbyists for special interest groups.

The ideal candidate will embrace metrics and social media and possess a strong understanding of digital media.

Roles and Responsibilities

The reporter will have the ability to write breaking news and in-depth articles.  In addition, the reporter will author a weekly newsletter focused on Wyoming energy.Travel is required. 


Salary is commensurate with experience. Full benefits are included.
