The following is sponsored content from Shannon A. Brennan, Candidate for Wyoming House of Representatives, D23, Teton County.
Recently, columnist Tom Lubnau established that, contrary to what was said on a recent Tucker Carlson show, Wyoming isn’t heading the direction of Colorado politically. Instead of providing insights and backing up his claims, he attacked those who are right of center throughout the state. He’s missing a much bigger picture.
While he was drafting his emote bomb, the transition from Cowboy State Conservatism to Colorado Blue actually was well underway and gaining speed. The gateway is Teton County and the modus is the Super PAC strategy – have very large pocketed, nameless donors deposit funds quietly and without requirement of reporting, in one or more Super PACS, flow the funds to other PACS, and ultimately park the funds in non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Then encourage, and perhaps pay for, the migration to Wyoming of less fortunate people seeking work, as well as impressionable youth seeking social and professional opportunities. Offer them salaries and benefits at these NGOs and “educate” them as to how to vote. Their numbers proliferate, as they form the crucial service-level workforce. You have now established a significant, fast-growing liberal voter base that can quickly out-vote the local conservatives.
Wyoming may be the most conservative state in the union, but it is also the most vulnerable due to it sparse population. The Super PAC takeover is easy, cheap, and very effective being stealth. What an ideal target? What liberal wouldn’t like to see the fall of the Cowboy State Republicans? What extreme liberal wouldn’t take joy in introducing mandatory wealth re-distribution in the most affluent (per capita) state in the U.S?
Teton County, the richest county in the country by far, has a few wealthy people eager to bring down the Wyoming culture. Money is readily available, and operatives elsewhere nationally and perhaps internationally, recognize this. How is it that Jackson, population 12,000, has over 250 NGOs? Nearby Dubois, population 1003, has 78 NGOs. What are the NGOs’ real missions? Who are they helping, and what are they doing with the money? The NGOs are host vessels for money staged for strategic issuance to recruit the democrat vote.
Shelter JH, a Jackson NGO with tax benefits that allow it to be involved in politics and pay salaries, does not provide housing as would be expected of an NGO with such a name, but instead it is a political advocacy machine that pays its board and has expanded its web to target cities of Sheridan, Cheyenne, and Laramie.
Liz Storer, a democrat state representative from Teton County and my political opponent, is associated with this web of funding. Her name has been associated with other liberal, nameless donors who pump very large amounts of money into our counties to influence results. Ask any county if they have seen unusual, unexpected liberal-trending voting outcomes in this year’s Primary.
She started yet another Super PAC in the week prior to the Primary (ref. JHNG) to fund her husband’s re-election as a Teton County commissioner as well as two other unknown candidates. They ultimately unseated two very credible, well-known incumbents in a surprise upset. This is unethical and embarrassingly pathetic by Wyoming standards.
Outrageous? Yes. Illegal? No. The use of Super PACS is supported Citizens United v. FEC (558 U.S. 310) in 2010, where it was found that the government cannot restrict independent political expenditures by corporations and unions, equating independent speech to First Amendment rights, hence the proliferation of campaigns funded by dark money PACs – no source or amount has to be revealed. It is in the best interest of all – whether liberal or conservative, to have this overturned. Election tampering hurts everyone.
Wyoming can become red literally overnight with this socialist strategy. Once in place, as in dictatorial Cuba or North Korea, we cannot revert to open government and a constitutional republic again.
Tom, you might not have recognized what is happening in Teton County because things are kept quiet deliberately. Efforts, though, are underway to reveal donor names, affiliated NGOs, and amounts, with the goal of exposing this statewide and beyond. Meanwhile, let’s note the outpouring of frustration and concern from impacted candidates here and elsewhere in the state this election season. This is affecting us all. Even moderate liberals. This is not about political identity. It is about losing our government, our culture, and our way of life.
