Long known as a crossroads of Western heritage, Cody, Wyoming once stood at the center of the Western Americana and antique firearms collecting worlds. For decades, collectors, dealers, and enthusiasts traveled from across the country to attend auctions and events that helped define the market for historic arms and frontier artifacts. In recent years, however, that prominence has faded, leaving a noticeable void in what was once a thriving regional hub.
That dynamic is now shifting.
Lock Stock & Barrel Auctions is positioning itself at the forefront of a renewed push to reestablish Cody as a destination for serious collectors. With its upcoming three-day live auction scheduled for May 1-3, the company is signaling a broader ambition to bring high-caliber Western collecting back to northwest Wyoming.
As part of that effort, LSB has released its full auction catalog, now available both in print and online. The catalog provides an early look at what is shaping up to be one of the most substantial Western and firearms sales in Wyoming in recent years.
The May auction will feature more than 1,200 lots spanning a wide range of historical periods and collecting categories. Offerings include a pair of Revolutionary War American flintlock pistols, numerous Civil War percussion firearms, frontier-era Winchesters, factory engraved Colts, and military firearms representing multiple conflicts. A strong selection of modern sporting arms rounds out the firearms category, while fine artwork, Western memorabilia, militaria, and other curated collectibles add further depth to the sale.

The catalog represents months of acquisition, research, cataloging, and professional photography. Many of the items originate from private collections and estates, with several being offered publicly for the first time. Extensive travel and direct engagement with collectors were key to assembling a sale intended to appeal to both seasoned buyers and newer entrants to the market.
Printed catalogs are available at the company’s Cody office and can also be requested by phone. The complete catalog is accessible online at LSBauctions.com, where bidders may register and place bids ahead of the auction as well as bid live during the auction.
Multiple bidding avenues will be offered, including in-person participation at the Cody Auditorium, as well as online, telephone, live broadcast and absentee bidding. Registration is currently open, and early interest has been strong as collectors begin reviewing the material.
For Lock Stock & Barrel, the May auction represents more than a single event. It reflects a broader effort to restore Cody’s place in the national conversation surrounding Western Americana and historic arms collecting.
