Dear editor: Why couldn't these two groups of adults communicate and agree either to put aside their differences and join forces to hold a real memorial to honor Charlie Kirk?

Dear editor:

The behavior of the two groups that staged conflicting "memorials to Charlie Kirk" shows that neither group really understands or honors what Mr. Kirk believed in or stood for.

Both groups needed to hold fundraisers. That's understandable. But Charlie Kirk stood for open and honest communication.

He stood for people finding common ground and learning to get along with one another.

Why couldn't these two groups of adults communicate and agree either to put aside their differences and join forces to hold a real memorial to honor Charlie, or else leave his name out of it and just schedule their competing fundraisers as fundraisers.

These groups had an opportunity to honor Charlie and his legacy, but they blew it.

Let's try to do better, folks.

Sincerely,

Vivian Reilly, Lyman
