Letter To The Editor: Pro-Life And Supports Pregnancy Centers

Dear editor: "There is a lot that could be said on the subject, but to keep this short I think it’s sufficient to say, please don’t murder babies for being inconvenient. Full-grown humans inconvenience me all the time, but it would be wrong of me to kill them for it."

Dear Editor:

In response to Wednesday’s letter regarding pregnancy care, I’d like to agree that there are many people in the state who would say that “crisis pregnancy centers” are vital to addressing maternity care gaps.

I am one of those many. There’s no catch. Just care for mothers and for babies.

Like Wednesday’s letter-writer, I, too, have learned lessons from elders before me — you shall not kill, and you shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.

The first one seems obvious, but apparently people struggle with understanding it.

There is a lot that could be said on the subject, but to keep this short I think it’s sufficient to say, please don’t murder babies for being inconvenient. Full-grown humans inconvenience me all the time, but it would be wrong of me to kill them for it.

As to the second lesson, please step back and let crisis pregnancy centers do what they do best, which is helping women in crisis through their pregnancies.

These centers are providing a necessary good. There is no reason for a person (or any lawmakers) to try to take that away from them or from the countless women and families they serve.

There are women and girls all over Wyoming, not to mention their caring families, who benefit every day from these centers.

To call for a removal of their access to this option of care is selfish and spiteful. You may not need or want a free ultrasound, free STD testing, free parenting classes, free diapers or free information, but for those that do want and need those services, please leave them alone.

These centers are very clear that they offer support for pregnancy, and since abortion literally ends a pregnancy, it makes sense that abortion would not be their capstone offering.

That being said, the pregnancy centers I researched all gave detailed information about various types of abortion while at the same time affirming women not to feel pressured or make any decisions without a full understanding.

In any other area of medicine, such a thorough explanation of what to expect would be applauded. But because these places tend to result in women choosing life, they get no credit for being helpful and are painted as “extremist”.

Calling abortion a “life-saving procedure” or a “very safe health care intervention” is asinine.

I’m glad the writer chose life for her two babies. I pray more people are able to make the same choice. Supporting these pregnancy centers supports women, supports families, and supports our Wyoming values of helping the vulnerable and in need.

Our voices allow these centers to thrive, and our silence would be our undoing.
