Dear editor:

Our President is NOT a dictator because such accusations for this would never make publication. Name calling and spewing rhetoric are divisive.

Ironically, those who continue this regimen give credence to their part in the derision.

I also find that too many people show their ignorance for definitions, then wrongfully use these words as weapons while pleading for unity.

Certainly, we need a strong and righteous leader who utilizes the Constitution for its intended purpose, albeit it is thwarted left and right by extremists who fuel the fire for confusion, derision and chaos.

Most Americans voted for a president who promised to end the corruption which has infested all areas of government over many years.

Many do not know what that looks like; there is no magic recipe. We have a president who is trying to fulfill this commitment.

Check out the net worth of insurgents who blast the air waves with false accusations.

Their names, too numerous to list, voice allegations the loudest in Congress while their income increases as career politicians.

Too many lobbyists help support their organizations stay wealthy; many claiming support for the ‘downtrodden’ or average citizen yet stand in line for pay-outs.

How do we eradicate immense graft and regain the essence held in documents designed to prevent objectives for self-indulgence at the expense of citizens’ livelihoods?

Have we grown so complacent with enjoying a presupposed ‘status quo’ that news networks have become our source of truth even if it is skewed and while they maintain their hierarchy in the chain of making money?

Our country’s debt is beyond my comprehension; an elder working since I was 13 and living through several presidents and many threats of a government shutdown.

This emotional upheaval is immense; however, the actual consequences would be even more devastating.

Once they, the powerful elite and career politicians, raise the emotional level (fear), their sweep for increased debt with clandestine pork added to good bills moves quickly and covertly.

No surprise that we have gained more debt while those working to secure a comfortable life-style continue unscathed.

How does one rid the poison infecting a body reeking with self-indulgence over many years of growth?

Promises to represent Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness are touted during re-election while the money machines work securing votes, always an abundance of money in elections, no matter how many citizens struggle to make ends meet.

We have a disparity of workers in this country because of a wrongful open-door policy, under the nomenclature, sanctuary cities.

If our president works to bring work here via tariffs, criticisms flare because we may need to alter our lifestyles a bit setting needs before wants.

If we want those freedoms maintained at the expense of founding fathers and others who were willing to die for them, then vigilance by all is required.

We don’t need a government shutdown; we need to sever dense roots which have obscured justice far too long. Let’s stop the chorus of divisive rhetoric.

Sincerely,

Kathleen A. Skarupinski, Cheyenne
