Dear editor,

As a Vietnam veteran and former CEO in Wyoming’s uranium industry, I’ve spent my career focused on two things: defending our country and securing the energy that powers it.

I’ve seen firsthand how critical Wyoming’s leadership in energy is and I know Natrona County does too.

Wyoming has always led the way in powering America. We lead in uranium, coal, oil, and gas.

Now, we have the chance to lead again with next-generation nuclear manufacturing.

Radiant’s proposed facility in Casper represents a critical opportunity for Wyoming to stay at the forefront of American energy, defense and innovation.

Radiant isn’t just bringing a factory. What they are proposing will create enormous opportunities for the Cowboy State’s future.

Their microreactors will be built by Wyoming workers, using Wyoming vendors, and generating millions in local tax revenue.

These reactors will provide portable, reliable power for U.S. troops, supporting military readiness and defense around the world.

Radiant’s technology uses TRISO fuel, which is known widely as the safest in the world. Their designs exceed federal standards.

As President Trump’s Department of Energy testified at a recent Casper legislative hearing, this is no science experiment. The nuclear industry and spent fuel are safe and secure.

Finally, this project also aligns with national priorities.

President Trump and his administration made clear that expanding America’s nuclear capabilities is critical to energy independence and national security.

This is Wyoming’s shot at leading that charge: building the reactors that power our troops, strengthen our grid and cement our state’s place as the cornerstone of America’s energy future.

Wyoming has never been afraid of hard work or big ideas.

If we shut the door on Radiant, we’re not just walking away from good-paying jobs, we’re turning our backs on the kind of energy leadership President Trump is asking for. Let’s keep Wyoming open for business.
