Dear editor:
Dennis Sun's column about hormones in animals.
I am not sure why Dennis would use vegetables and beef as a comparison when it comes to hormones in foods we Americans consume?
That would be like comparing apples to oranges.
Firstly, I would like to state that I am all for Americans to consume as much beef as they would like. I also would like to state that I am a beef eater.
With that said, we Americans also are starting to be more aware of the things we put in our bodies.
I also understand that the FDA, USDA, and the US food and drug departments were implemented to protect us Americans, yet, we Americans are in dire need to be healthier.
As we have heard, this new administration is trying to change some of these trends.
However, to Dennis Sun's example per 500 grams of a non-implanted steer it has 8ng while a planted steer has 11ng of steroids.
While that’s not much to Dennis that is still a 37.5 percent increase of detectable steroids.
And we ask ourselves why we are a sick society.
Sincerely,
Ken Hall, Powell
