Dear editor:

Rep. Mike Yin's latest opinion piece attacking the Wyoming Freedom Caucus is utter hogwash. It's a classic attempt to stir up resentment against folks who don't toe the left's line.

It brings to mind the old joke: "How do you know a Democrat is lying? His lips are moving." And my corollary for the "moderate" Republicans: "How do you know a Republican is lying? He's voting with the Democrats."

Yin claims the Caucus controls how we live, parent, and run businesses. But he gives no real examples. He complains about House Bill 102, which would allow voters, not the governor, to choose the Attorney General.

That's democracy. Wyoming elects most of its top officials. Why not this one?

He says they're telling parents what to do. But the bills he objects to actually get government out of the way. HB46 trusts parents to homeschool without red tape.

SF77 keeps ideology out of classrooms. HB72 protects privacy in public restrooms. That's not control, that's common sense.

On business, the Caucus backed SF69, which cut property taxes, and fought off additional red tape. That helps the little guy.

And yes, they're pro-life. That reflects the values of many folks in Wyoming, whether Yin likes it or not.

I know nonsense when I see it, and Yin's column was full of it.

Sincerely,

Doug Gerard, Gillette
