WASHINGTON, D.C. — More Americans than ever in the past 19 years say the country is on the right track, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll of likely voters released this week.

Fifty percent of respondents said the nation is headed in the right direction and is the most optimism ever recorded by the weekly poll, which began in 2006.

The poll is a promising sign for the Republican Party, which controls both chambers of Congress as well as the White House.

“America mandated change and the Republican trifecta is delivering,” U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman of Wyoming told Cowboy State Daily.

Her Wyoming Republican colleagues in Washington — U.S. Sens. John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis — agreed.

“The Republican Party is the party of the working class and we will continue working hard to deliver on the America First agenda that’ll help all Wyoming families and workers,” Lummis said.

Barrasso said President Donald Trump and the GOP majorities on Capitol Hill “have delivered a new direction for the American people.”

Five-Night Poll

The poll result is the rolling average of a five-night, national telephone survey of 1,810 likely voters.

Rasmussen posted the poll result on its X account Tuesday, calling it “Uncharted Territory.”

Rasmussen’s lead pollster, Mark Mitchell, was more blunt.

“Holy crap — it happened!” he posted on his X account. “For the first time in our nation’s history A MAJORITY says the country is on the right track.”

Mitchell added in the same post: “Don’t F it up, Republicans.”

The poll showed 50% approving of the nation’s direction, with 45% saying it is going the wrong way.

In response to a question posed to him on X, Mitchell said the right track/wrong track poll has been conducted since 2006.

One of Rasmussen’s other polls showed Trump on Wednesday with a 53% approval rating among likely voters. That figure, the latest in Rasmussen’s Trump daily tracker, marked a slight uptick compared to recent days.

Trump’s approval rating in that poll over the course of his current term has ranged between 47 and 56 percent.

Delegation Not Surprised

Wyoming’s delegation was not surprised by the poll showing optimism about the nation’s future.

“Of course the American people believe that the country is headed in the right direction,” Hageman told Cowboy State Daily. “For years we've all been dedicated to finding leaders who espouse American values, put people before political gain and will work to allow our country to once again prosper.”

She added: “Whether it's tax cuts and wage boosts, a break in price hikes at the grocery store or the assurance of a resurgence of American opportunity, the optimism is rightly at an all-time high."

Lummis told Cowboy State Daily: “The American people are clearly very supportive of what President Trump and Republicans are doing to bring our country back from the brink.”

Barrasso, the Senate’s second-ranking Republican, said the GOP is “making good on our promises to lower costs, protect the border, restore America’s strength in the world and unleash Wyoming energy.”

“President Trump and the Republican Majority have delivered a new direction for the American people,” he told Cowboy State Daily. “Our bold agenda is delivering historic results. Americans of all backgrounds are taking note. Republicans are committed to getting our country back on track.”

Not all polls align with the latest Rasmussen findings, though many do. Also, multiple recent surveys have shown Trump’s popularity gaining among Hispanics.
