Letter to the Editor: I'd Trust The Delegation Over A Bunch Of Lawyers Any Day

Dear editor: Any group with Lubnau, Sullivan and 98 other lawyers ganging up like this smells more like a clubhouse flex than a public service. When that many suits circle the wagons, it’s rarely good news for the rest of us.

Judge and gavel getty 3 30 25

That Cowboy State Daily piece on over 100 Wyoming lawyers telling Barrasso, Lummis and Hageman to lay off federal judges got my attention.

I like data over snap judgments, but a pile of legal types — ex-Governor Sullivan, Tom Lubnau and the rest — makes you wonder. Lubnau’s no stranger to slick plays. He rammed through SF 104 in 2013 to kneecap Cindy Hill’s office, only for the courts to junk it.

Seeing him in this mix doesn’t scream “trust me.” SF104 was so bad even I knew it was unconstitional.

Hageman and our senators pushing back on judges when rulings don’t fit Wyoming’s way or supporting our president makes sense to me. I’d rather check voting records than nod at a fancy letter.

Any group with Lubnau, Sullivan and 98 other lawyers ganging up like this smells more like a clubhouse flex than a public service. When that many suits circle the wagons, it’s rarely good news for the rest of us.

Sincerely,

Doug Gerard
