Gary Brown has spent years testifying at the Wyoming Legislature and now he’ll be the one on the receiving end of that testimony after winning his bid for House District 41 in Cheyenne on Tuesday night.
Brown beat Democratic challenger Jen Solis by 187 votes in the election.
He held a roughly 275-vote lead after all the in-person votes had been counted late Tuesday night, but Solis was able to slightly cut the difference after mail-in ballots were counted.
In March, Brown told Cowboy State Daily he sees himself as an open-minded, common-sense thinker who often thinks of others before himself -- attributes he would like to see more of in current day society.
Brown believes the Wyoming state government spends too much money and wants to make drastic property tax cuts, supporting the initiation of an acquisition-based value property tax system.
Brown is also firmly anti-abortion and believes people should give birth and put the baby up for adoption if they believe they can’t care for the child.
Brown beat state Rep. Bill Henderson, R-Cheyenne, in the Republican primary by about 110 votes. Solis ran against Henderson in 2022, losing by 221 votes.
Solis ran her campaign trying to make an appeal to Republicans to vote for her, billing herself as a small government Democrat.
