In District 47, Robert Davis, Republican incumbent, beat Democratic challenger James Wilson on Tuesday to continue serving in Wyoming’s House of Representatives.
Davis, who has worked in the commercial construction business, as a public works director and as a rancher, said, “I'm running for my grandchildren, and the hope that we can keep the way of Wyoming life for them.”
“As far as legislation going forward,” Davis said. “There's some things on the burner, but a lot is going to depend on the election and who is in the House and the Senate as to what may or may not be available.”
This was Wilson’s first time running for office. He spent 45 years working at the Jim Bridger Power Plant and told Cowboy State Daily he ran as a Democrat to give people in Sweetwater County a chance to vote for a different candidate.
“I just wanted to return choice back to southwest Wyoming,” Wilson said. “We need to focus more on schools, medical care and infrastructure, and less on being in someone else's doctor's office.”
