Republican businessman Rob Geringer of Cheyenne seems to have beaten Democratic challenger Bob Ray for Wyoming House District 42.

With six of seven vote centers reporting, Geringer had 1,169 votes to Ray’s 281, a huge 80% of the vote.

“Things are looking pretty positive with the way things are coming in, and I am very grateful it is heading this way,” Geringer said. “I am humbled by the support that I’ve seen in Laramie County in my district for what we are doing. There is a lot to look forward to, a lot of good things happening in the state, but a lot that we need to take care of. I’m looking forward to taking things on.”

The self-described lifelong conservative campaigned on protecting the state’s oil, natural gas and coal industries, economic diversification and fighting illegal immigration. Geringer, the son of former Wyoming Gov. Jim Geringer, defeated incumbent state Rep. Ben Hornok in the August primary in a close race taking just 50.8% of the vote to make it to the November ballot.
