House District 10: Eklund, R, Rolls To Easy Win To Retain Seat In Legislature

John Eklund, R-Cheyenne, won reelection to his House District 10 seat Tuesday with a huge margin of nearly 2,000 votes over his challenger, Timothy Forbis.

John Eklund, R-Cheyenne, won reelection to his House District 10 seat Tuesday with a healthy margin of nearly 2,000 votes over his challenger, Timothy Forbis, with seven of seven vote centers in Laramie County reporting. 

Eklund earned 3,584 votes, while Forbis had 759. There were 36 write-in votes cast. 

Eklund also defeated his Republican challenger, Jennifer James, in the August Primary by about the same margin of votes. 

Eklund served on the Joint Agriculture, State and Public Lands and Water Resources Committee in the 2023-24 legislative session, and was assigned to the Joint Transportation and House Transportation committees prior to that. 

He was a sponsor on bills that protected the purchase of firearms, prohibited foreign property ownership and authorized charter schools, among many others during his career.

He has a bachelor’s degree from University of Wyoming and was working as a rancher at the time he was first elected to office.
