Former President Donald Trump has scheduled a campaign stop in Wyoming early next month.
Trump is scheduled to attend a fundraiser for his campaign in Jackson on Aug. 10. It will be his second visit to the Cowboy State in the last two years.
An invitation Cowboy State Daily obtained for the event promotes it as a lunch reception featuring Trump, run by the Trump campaign. Also appearing at the event will be U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman.
No location is listed for the event, but the invitation states that details will be provided upon RSVP and that space is limited. Entry to the fundraiser will cost $5,000 per person, although people can also get in with a $10,000 fundraising commitment.
Mary Martin, Teton County Republican Party chairman, said she’s known about the event for about a month. She said the chosen location of the event will not be disclosed to the public.
“I’m just thrilled to have the opportunity for Trump to come to Jackson,” she said.
Big Money
Teton County has some of the greatest wealth in the country, and the price of entry for the luncheon as well as other opportunities to meet and greet the former president signal that the campaign is well aware of it.
Martin said the Teton County GOP had been asking Trump to come for a while. The area is renowned for wealthy donors and has long attracted politicians seeking campaign donations. She said U.S. Sens. John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis will also be holding fundraisers in Jackson in the days leading up to the Trump event.
After seeing the success of a recent Trump event held in San Francisco, a Democratic-majority city like Jackson, Martin said they felt confident a Trump fundraiser in Jackson could also raise millions.
A photo with Trump at the event will run $35,000 or a pledge to raise $70,000.
Co-hosting, which includes a table, photo with Trump and an entry to the lunch reception, comes with a $150,000 price tag.
To sponsor the event as a host committee, it will cost $250,000.
Martin said the event was originally planned to be much smaller with only a $250,000-buy in for entry, a price only around 20 attendees were expected to meet.
But that price was eventually dropped to $5,000 to allow more people to come.
“They want the party faithful to have the opportunity to support him,” she said. “Trump is a man of the people, he’s not going to price out people from coming.”
Second Time Coming
Trump last visited Wyoming for a campaign event for Hageman in Casper in May 2022, drawing a crowd of about 10,000.
During the event, he expressed great admiration for Wyoming and asked the audience if he should run for president. Trump announced his presidential reelection campaign about six months later.
Also appearing at the Aug. 10 fundraiser will be Lynn Friess, widow of former gubernatorial candidate Foster Friess, and Karen and Jay Kemmerer, major Republican donors who previously owned Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
