A Rock Springs man in his 60s was found dead under a bridge Thursday morning, authorities say.
Sweetwater County Coroner Dale Majhanovich was pulling up to the man’s home to notify the family at about 1:30 Thursday afternoon as he spoke with Cowboy State Daily by phone.
“It appears to be natural causes, but we’ve got an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday,” said Majhanovich, adding that the deceased was a male in his 60s and a “local resident.”
The Rock Springs Police Department dispatched a statement Thursday afternoon saying a body was found under Hancock Bridge at about 10:50 that morning, and said an investigation is ongoing.
Majhanovich said the man had not been dead that long, and he likely died Thursday morning.
Update: Majhanovich identified the decedent April 25 as Dale Popoe - and said he does not suspect foul play at this point either.
