The USA Gasoline brand name appears to be disappearing from Wyoming’s gasoline station landscape.
Gas stations in Casper, Cheyenne and Laramie have either closed or sold to others to operate the USA Gasoline pumps.
In case anyone’s counting, 319 gas stations still remain operating in Wyoming, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Representatives with Texas-based 7-Eleven Inc., the convenience store chain owner of the USA Gasoline brand, did not return phone calls or emails seeking comment on the closings or store sales.
Cowboy State Daily confirmed with city planning departments that USA Gasoline stations at 1010 CY Ave. in Casper and 3363 E. Pershing Blvd. in Cheyenne closed this month.
Other USA Gasoline stations have been sold to competing brand names, including former USA Gasoline stations located along North Greeley Highway, West College Drive and Vandehei Avenue in Cheyenne.
The USA Gasoline station located in Casper at the corner of CY Avenue and Poplar Street may be the last of the stations in Wyoming.
A manager said that the station was getting its underground tanks filled Tuesday.
Erin Fagan, a planner with the city of Cheyenne, said that a representative with Colorado-based Stantec had inquired about removing the pumps and canopy at the USA Gasoline station located at the corner of East Pershing and Ridge Road ¬— located in front of an Albertson’s supermarket.
On Tuesday, there was caution tape wrapped around the pumps, with inventory removed from inside the store — leaving empty shelves.
The Stantec representative did not return phone calls seeking comment.
USA Gasoline has had a long history of changing hands in Wyoming.
The brand was formerly owned by Tesoro Corp., which briefly changed its name to Andeavor in 2017 before Marathon Petroleum Corp. acquired the company in 2018.
7-Eleven bought the USA Gasoline stores in 2021 just as Marathon Petroleum was rebranding the stores to Speedway when the sale occurred.
