Dear editor:

A different perspective on HB125.

After reading the latest letter to the editor concerning HB125 I wanted to add a different perspective.

I retired after 28 years as a police officer, then, worked 5 years as armed security for Central Wyoming College.

During that time, I studied incidents of mass killings, attended training to intervene with active killers, and taught how to defend against them, including in “gun free zones.”

Ed Monk presented one of the best trainings I ever attended. Here is a link to a video of some of the training for anyone that wants to watch it: Tim Larkin PROT3CT #8 - Ed Monk (Pt 1) (

People reading this need to remember one thing, criminals do not obey laws of any kind they feel obstructs them.

It is already against the law to shoot people.

“Gun free zones” only make sitting ducks out of law-abiding citizens. The killer at the theatre in Aurora Colorado chose that particular theatre as it was designated a “gun free zone”.

I am urging Governor Gordon honor his campaign pledge and sign HB125 into law.

He realized the mistake so called “gun free zones” were when he promised to eliminate them should he have the chance. Well the chance is here.

Sincerely,

Gene Galitz, Pavillion
