Good morning, and welcome to Cowboy State Daily radio news for Wednesday, October 18th, 2023! 

Today’s top stories:

County leaders in the Rock Springs area say they may practice noncompliance should a controversial Bureau of Land Management plan be approved.

Governor Mark Gordon has some concerns about a bill being considered that would give state lawmakers more scrutiny and removal powers over governor appointees.

Wyoming is not joining eighteen other Republican-led states that are backing a Florida federal appeals court argument against government funding of transgender-related treatments.

In what a Wyoming Department of Transportation employee dubbed the “Sunday Morning Elk Massacre,” as many as seven elk were killed north of Meeteetse when a pickup plowed into a herd that was crossing the road.

And a Cheyenne couple were as surprised as anyone when their gargantuan pumpkin topped the scales at over 2,000 pounds, winning a regional contest and setting a new state record.
